Ondoy

Typhoon 'Ondoy' left a lot of Filipinos homeless. Rizal, our hometown, was one of the places that was severely hit by Ondoy. My family was very fortunate to have been spared of the flood (we live in Taytay) but we're sad for our neighboring town, Cainta and Marikina who suffered severely. Some relatives experienced floods and damaged most of their possessions:( Many colleagues from work also suffered a lot and are slowly trying to put everything back together with the help of family, friends, and co-workers.

We've heard and seen on tv how the typhoon hit us. I was speechless... I don't know what to say... You can only sympathize with the people affected but you'll never know how they really felt at the time when they were struggling to save not just their possessions but most importantly their own lives and the lives of their loved ones...

It made me realize (more sincerely) that everything we have, even our lives, are just TEMPORARY. And we have no hold of what's to happen to us.

We ignore and waste food, water, and other basic necessities like we're never gonna run out of it. And we'll only realize their importance when we have little or almost nothing left of it. To live for a day or two with no electricity leaves us helpless and paralyzed. Sometimes, we really have to learn our lesson the hard way :(

But Filipinos never lose hope. We know that we'll survive this. Let's keep on praying that everything's gonna be okay. God will provide :)
